El Dorado Main Street has a number of programs available for our “Partners” that can help either start a new business or improve a current business in the downtown district.  All these programs are based on availability and have certain requirements.  Contact the El Dorado Main Street office for questions or details on any of these programs.

Downtown El Dorado Entrepreneur Program (DEEP):  The Downtown El Dorado Entrepreneur Program is a collaborative effort between El Dorado Main Street, El Dorado Inc., El Dorado Chamber of Commerce, the City of El Dorado and local businesses.  This program is in the early planning stages and not yet available.  Stay connected to ElDoradoMainStreet.org for continued updates on this program.

Facade Improvement Grant (FIG):  The Facade Improvement Grant Program was established to support and encourage small businesses to reinvest in the downtown by providing 25% matching funds not to exceed $2,000  to small business owners and tenants to assist them in restoring or beautifying their exterior front facades or storefronts.  For information on the FIG, click here.

Federal, State and Historic Grants:  El Dorado Main Street is constantly searching for new Federal, State and Historical Grants that are applicable to the use and historical significance of our downtown.  Once found, El dorado Main Street can assist the owner in the writing and/or coordination of the application process.

Historic Tax Credits (HTC):  With downtown El Dorado being designated as a “Historic District”, owners whose building is recognized as a “contributing building” are eligible to receive federal and state tax credits for the preservation of their building.  Building owners who seek these tax credits must conform to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.  El Dorado Main Street does not administer this program but are willing to assist participants with any questions or professional direction.  For additional information on HTC, click here.

Incentives Without Walls (IWW):  The Incentives Without Walls funding program is a 1:1 matching loan program with a zero-to-low percent interest rate.  This  loan is administered by the El Dorado Main Street organization and allows local businesses, within the Main Street District, the opportunity to borrow anywhere from $500 to $20,000 for building improvements.  To preview the IWW Application, click here.

Promotions:  El Dorado Main Street is able to help promote your business using a variety of methods that include (but not limited to) Email Blast, Social Sites, Newspaper, and the Discover Downtown video series.

Other:  There are also a number of incentives offered by the City of El Dorado and by the State of Kansas to help with starting up a small business.  To review those incentives and for Linda Jolly’s contact information, click here.
