We are estatic to announce that El Dorado Main Street, Inc. received notice the Kansas Main Street program is being reinstated at the state level. Budgetary support has been approved and the program’s reformation is assured. Prior to its cancellation in 2012, the Kansas Main Street program acted as a catalyst for over $600,000,000 in core reinvestment, thousands of jobs, and is a proven strategy of entrepreneurial development. With a new Kansas Main Street on the horizon, we look forward to more positive economic impact to our region.

Locally, Main Street anticipates assistance in multiple areas:  program assessment, development, marketing, Historic Preservation, media management, comprehensive downtown planning, entrepreneurial support.

Nationally, The Main Street approach is generally accepted as one of the most impactful economic strategies, dollar for dollar, a community can pursue.

El Dorado Main Street appreciates the support of the Kansas Legislature, as they worked with Governor Laura Kelly to produce a budget that provides the tools necessary for positive growth in the State of Kansas.

This means even more state support for El Dorado’s downtown and historic corridors for restoration and business projects. We’re excited about the restoration of the state funding as it helps our non-profit better serve the El Dorado Community.

Stay tuned to more great news from the state.
